Parents as School Board Members
“We have to have a school board that's actually gonna be able to function and that has true parent representatives on it.” ~ Lori Lightfoot, Mayor of Chicago
Here at Back to Basics, we would like to see more parent representation on our school board. Presently, only two of our school board members have school age children (and both of those board members were recently elected to the board in 2021.)
Do you feel that it is vital for our board members to have school age children? Why or why not? If you're a parent who is considering running for a seat on the WCASD school board, send us an email to introduce yourself! (There will be 5 school board seats up for election in 2023 so now is the time to start thinking about who you would like to see fill those seats.)
