WCASD is not amongst them.
The rankings were based on the results of the PSSA’s and the Keystone exams, based on data from Pittsburgh Business Times in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
This is hardly surprising given that only 1 out of 4 WCASD freshmen are competent in math. Our current school board is responsible for this decline because they voted repeatedly to keep schools closed* and failed to address learning loss back in 2021.
What we can surmise from this article (ranking school districts) is that other districts are doing a better job of getting students back on track than WCASD is doing.
WCASD parents & taxpayers: it's time to elect a new school board.
*Schools closed in March 2020 and did not reopen to 5 days per week instruction for all students until March 2021. The learning loss that has resulted is staggering and our current board is to blame for this.
