PROPERTY & FINANCE
Review of a proposed budget of $302,129,870. That's in excess of THREE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. A decade ago the budget was $194,440,000. Enrollment has increased by fewer than 500 students in the last 10 years but the budget has increased by over one hundred million dollars ($107,689,870 to be exact.)
However, this year the board is not planning to raise taxes. Why? What is different about this year? Could it be the Auditor General's scathing report that stated WCASD used a "shell game" to raise taxes? Or could it be that it's an election year and the district wants to appeal to voters by keeping taxes steady in order to get incumbent board members reelected?
Note page 8 regarding charter schools. This is a false narrative put forth by the district.
Approval of a board document management system.
